“My family and I want Three Chain Road Wines & Sautjan Vineyards to become a lifestyle and not just a job! It is something we’re passionate about and most important of all, enjoy! We want people to experience exceptional quality wines at an accessible price point. We want people to enjoy and share our passion with us!”
By 2006 when our first vine was planted, Damien Pitt had spent over 15 years engrained in the wine industry. His passion for all things that grow began well before Sautjan when, as a teenager, he spent his time cultivating herbs and fresh cut flowers for market on his parents vineyard in the Murray/Darling Region, Mildura, Victoria. He then went on to successfully obtain his trade qualifications in horticulture.
As the extremely hands on Director of an industrial insulation company, Damien grew his business with a focus on the wine industry. Through the demand in the industry, Damien has had the privilege of spending uncountable hours forging strong and dependable relationships with the finest and most senior in Australian winemaking. With first hand experience in both boutique and commercial wineries, Damien blended his priceless industry relationships and accumulated knowledge with determination and honest passion to make Three Chain Road Wines & Sautjan Vineyards (s17) a reality.
In 2007 under the Sautjan Vineyards (s17) wine label, Damien and his team produced their first vintage of a French oak Chardonnay from Macedon and a deep subtle Shiraz from the Kilmore Ranges with a focus on obtaining fruit from within the vineyards geographical region. Then in 2008, due to limited available local produce, first grade fruit was sourced from Victoria's King Valley and Strathbogie wine reagions to produce an elegant and rich mid palate Sauvignon Blanc.
In 2008 Damien introduced the Three Chain Road Wines label into the mix to offer another dimension to the product mix. Three Chain Road Wines has now taken off as the more prominent commercial (yet still boutique) brand. Sautjan Vineyards (s17) will remain our pet and original vintage label. It will also be the label for any limited releases and cellar door ranges.
Damien forecasts that come 2010 Three Chain Road Wines & Sautjan Vineyards (s17) will have the fruit capabilities to produce a reserve label of Chardonnay and Viognier then in 2012 Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc off his own property. However, in the meantime Damien will continue to source the finest grapes from the cool climate region to produce a collection of wines to compliment every occasion where a fine drop is required.
We look forward to sharing the Three Chain Road Wines & Sautjan Vineyards (s17) experience with one and all.
Cheers!
