body:
Made by Sautjan (S17) in Australia (region: Macedon Ranges) .
A dry, still, white wine with 12.5% alchohol tasted on 3rd May 2009.
Grape: Chardonnay
Quality: Okay
Value: Okay
Cost: Usually between $20.00 - $20.00.
Looks: Clear, bright and not particularly golden, with a light to medium look to it
Smells: Slightly ashy, and grapefruity
Feels: Light to medium body
Tastes: Points awarded for a truly cool climate tasting chardonnay. Tight and lean with a bitter/sour grapefruit tang, the fruit is dominated at this stage of its life by the acidity and the oak - which is not really fair is you cannot say this is overoaked at all. The finish is tangy and refreshing. A really interesting wine - I don't think it will develop into a winner with age, but the style and intent signal to me that it is worth keeping an eye on this label. Especially if it holds onto this price point!
